Fulton Mall Improvement Association and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership

Project Intern

Rebecca Gafvert has joined DBP for the summer as the Project Intern for the Fulton Mall Improvement Association. She is responsible for conducting merchant outreach, assisting in the development of green initiatives for Fulton Street businesses, and planning and implementing events in the district. In addition, she will be promoting DBP's districts through social media and assisting in a back-to-school campaign to connect college students to the merchants and other services that are available within Downtown Brooklyn.

Rebecca is a happy Brooklyn transplant from Ohio, and lived and worked in New York before starting grad school. She is currently earning a Masters in Community Planning with a focus on Physical Planning and Economic Development from the University of Cincinnati, and has a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from The Ohio State University. She has experience working for an affordable housing nonprofit in Cincinnati's inner city as well as a community development organization in Chinatown in Manhattan, and plans to use the summer to re-learn Mandarin. Her favorite Fulton Street store is Unique Thrift.
