City Point: Located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, City Point will be a mixed-use tower on the site of the former Albee Square Mall on Fulton Street and Gold St. Developed by a partnership led by Acadia Realty Trust, City Point will result in the creation of 520,000 square feet of retail space, 360,000 square feet of class A office space, a mix of affordable and market-rate residential units, and ample parking. For more information, visit their website.

Hotels:  There are many new hotels currently in development, ranging from mid-priced chains to full service boutiques. On Duffield St., between Fulton Mall and Willoughby St., hotels in development include a 184-room Hotel Indigo, a 320-room Sheraton, and a 180-room aloft by Starwood Hotels.  On Schermerhorn Street construction has begun on a 250-room Holiday Inn on Schermerhorn St.

A new 93-room boutique hotel called the Nu, located on Smith St. between State St. and Atlantic Avenue, started welcoming guests in July 2008. The Nu Hotel became Downtown Brooklyn's first hotel to open since the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1998.

Atlantic Yards: To be built over the rail yards near Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues, Atlantic Yards is a mixed use, multi-year development that will result in the creation of 6,800 mixed-income housing units, 247,000 square feet of retail, 800,000 square feet of office and hotel space, and the 18,000 seat Barclays Center, slated to be the home of the Nets basketball team. For more information, visit their website.

177 Livingston Street (completed):  Located at Gallatin Place and Livingston Street, this project converted a former Macy's warehouse into 100,000 square feet of Class A office space, along with ground floor retail.

Retail: More than 1.6 million square feet of retail is planned or under construction in Downtown Brooklyn. Many residential developments along Flatbush Avenue and throughout the district will feature ground-floor retail that will stimulate the pedestrian environment. This new retail will offer a diverse set of options for a growing resident, visitor, and employee population.
