Programs & Services

The Fulton Mall Improvement Association (FMIA) provides the following programs and services:

Shoppers at a jewelry store on Fulton Street.

The Valuecard offers discounts every day.

Sanitation:
The FMIA provides sanitation services through the contractor, Atlantic Maintenance, to make sure that the district is kept clean and free of graffiti. We manage a crew of 10 maintenance workers who conduct sidewalk and curb sweeping, snow removal, graffiti removal, and the continued maintenance of all Fulton Street Mall streetscape elements (bus shelters, trash receptacles, street signs, and tree grates). The sanitation crew works in shifts cleaning and maintaining Fulton Street 13 hours a day on Mondays through Saturdays, and 8 hours a day on Sundays.

Security:
To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for customers, store and property owners, the FMIA works with Allied Barton to provide security services with a crew of 13 security guards that patrol the district 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Business Support:
The FMIA works to support local businesses by attracting shoppers and visitors to Fulton Street through the following programs:

Downtown Brooklyn's Discount and Savings Card Program: The ValueCard Program is Downtown Brooklyn's discount program for area employees, jurors, residents and university students that offers discounts to over 75 area stores, restaurants, bookstores, service providers and jewelers. Simply present your ValueCard, student ID card from LIU, ASA, Polytechnic Institute, or NYC College of Technology, or Juror ID at the time of purchase to take advantage of the savings. Look for the ValueCard decal at the entrance of participating businesses.

To pick one up or have one mailed to you, email info@dbpartnership.org or call 718-403-1600. Click here for a complete listing of participating ValueCard businesses.

Capital Improvements:
The FMIA was instrumental in the City's $15 million appropriation of capital funding for the improvement and renovation of Fulton Street Mall. This streetscape improvement project will dramatically improve the appearance and functionality of Fulton Street, enhancing the shopping experience for current users and attracting new ones.

This fall, the FMIA will be working cooperatively with all stakeholders in the district as we embark on this project, which will include new sidewalks, benches, street and pedestrian lights, trash receptacles, bus shelters and planting beds.  This much-anticipated endeavor will require the FMIA to have a high level of interaction with store and property owners to turn this exciting project into reality.

Marketing/Promotion:
FMIA provides marketing and promotional events that support local businesses and aim to draw shoppers and visitors to the area.

Fulton Mall Sidewalk SalesDays: This is a popular outdoor shopping event along Fulton Street that features special discounts. In 2009, we are holding monthly Sidewalk SalesDays.  During the summer months, the Sidewalk SalesDays will also have family-friendly entertainment, including musicians, balloon artists and face painters. Stay tuned for news on upcoming events.

Holiday Promotions: This upcoming holiday season will feature a one-of-a-kind, exclusive lighting program for Fulton Street. We will have 22 poinsettia holiday streamers and two holiday gateways at Fulton/Boerum and Fulton/Flatbush. The gateways are making their North American debut, having been previously showcased in Italy.
