Sanitation: The CLS BID provides the following sanitation services through a contract with Atlantic Maintenance:

Awning & Signage Improvement Program
- 378 man-hours of supplemental sanitation per week
- Sidewalk sweeping (385,844 square feet of sidewalk, or roughly 8.8 acres)
- Trash bag removal (15 tons per week)
- Graffiti/sticker removal (15-20 incidents each month)
- Sidewalk pressure-washing (April through October)
- Snow removal (sidewalk corners, bus-shelters)
Public Safety: Located in the 84th Precinct, the CLS BID consistently ranks as one of the safest districts in the City. Our public safety program is rooted in communications and information sharing.
- Maintain regular contact with NYPD's 84th Precinct Commander and Community Affairs Officers
- Participate in and promote monthly 84th Precinct Community Council Meeting
- Co-host annual meeting of Brooklyn BIDs and NYPD
- Conduct interviews and surveys with BID stakeholders on quality of life and safety issues
- Commissioned a comprehensive security analysis of the district through T & M Protection Resources
Business and Property Assistance: We provide direct support to 200 businesses and property owners with the following:
- Retail Improvement Program - which provides grants and technical assistance for:
- Awnings and signs
- See-through security gates
- Merchandise display
- Websites
- Marketing Support and Street Beautification:
- ValueCard Discount Program - promotes deals and discounts to thousands of shoppers
- ShopDowntownBrooklyn.com - dedicated website to promote shopping in the district
- Holiday Lights - lend a festive atmosphere to the busy holiday shopping season
- Lightpole banners - add brand awareness and cohesiveness to Downtown Brooklyn as a whole
- Green Business Program
Landscaping & Horticulture: The CLS BID plants, prunes and maintains the following:
- Boerum Place median (includes 25 trees, 470 shrubs and 800 square feet of seasonal plants)
- Hoyt Plaza planters
- Flatbush greenstreet
- Street trees throughout the district
Streetscape Improvements: The CLS BID completed its Vision Plan in March 2010. The plan will be implemented in 3 phases. Phase 1 improvements included:
- New street trees
- Enhanced public spaces and subway station entrances
