Columbus Park

Background
Located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn's Civic Center, Columbus Park is the central gathering place for the tens of thousands of residents, workers, and visitors in the area. With over four acres of open space, the park features a variety of uses and activities from formal and impromptu musical performances to organic farmers' markets.  Brooklyn Borough Hall, an impressive Greek Revival structure built in 1849, anchors the southern end of the park where users regularly sit on the marble steps to eat lunch, conduct meetings, or simply relax in the afternoon sun.
