About Us

The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP) is a not-for-profit local development corporation whose mission is to advance economic development activities in Downtown Brooklyn. Under the DBP's leadership, over the past five years Downtown Brooklyn has attracted $287 million in public infrastructure improvements and nearly $3.5 billion in private investment. Its business district is now larger than downtown Atlanta, with one of the nation's most rapidly growing mixed-use communities. The DBP aims to bolster the district's position as a vibrant business center, retail destination, growing residential neighborhood, academic campus and world-class cultural and entertainment hub.

The DBP advances the economic growth of Downtown Brooklyn by assisting in the implementation of major development projects. It also oversees the evolving plan to transform the area surrounding the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) into an avant-garde, mixed-use arts and cultural district. And the DBP works with the City in its efforts to build public open spaces, revitalize area streetscapes, attract growing companies to the area and coordinate other infrastructure improvements.

In addition, the DBP manages three Business Improvement Districts (BID) - the Fulton Mall Improvement Association, MetroTech BID, and the Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn BID. These BIDs provide supplementary sanitation, security and promotional services to local businesses, residents and property owners.

The DBP has a staff of approximately 15 and is overseen by a board of directors comprised of leaders from Downtown Brooklyn's corporate sector, academic institutions and cultural community. It has an annual operating budget of around $6.6 million. Download a full Board List.
